April Lockhart
April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th of July, started taking lessons on piano and guitar at seven years old. Her interest in creating songs was sparked. At the age of 12 April composed her first single Different. When she was 14, April spent much time writing lyrics and perfecting her music abilities. After a while, she began to go on trips with her dad and to write songs in NY or LA. April also added additional themes to the track "Take My Hand" for some of the friends she had who struggled with concerns like peer pressure disabilities, and even teenage suicide. Lockhart is also gaining a growing popularity as a lifestyle influencer and works for popular brand of clean and natural beauty Ilia. The truth is that she was born with no left hand, and it makes her unique. But this isn't the only aspect that makes her unique. Lockhart's Instagram account doesn't ignore her handicap. It also doesn't insist on it. What is the message? The message is That we all carry multiple identities and are way more diverse than we think we are. Lockhart in a video message sent from her Nashville home, states that I don't wish for this to define myself. I am greater than the physical person I am. My daily life isn't affected by it. I go about my regular, everyday life and find myself solutions for problems. It's also a part of my life, and I think that it is something to be talked about. Lockhart is a true source of inspiration for self-acceptance in general, is on a long process to attain this. However, she admits to going through periods that made her feel uncomfortable about her appearance and wearing clothing with arms. She wears what she likes and posts photos of herself in the outfits she chooses on social media. Self-love she said is a process. "I don't think you will ever be there," she said. It's a long journey. I'm not sure you'll ever arrive. I think it is important to surround yourself with individuals who truly know you.
