Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actress and singer. Her early roles on Broadway included in Musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. For her role as Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress as well as director, has spent the bulk of her career working alongside prominent directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford can be seen next as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani, as Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It debuts on the 22nd November. Ashford is currently engaged in the production of Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust which stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film is scheduled to air on Disney DTC in the form of it becomes a Hulu Original. Ashford will return in 2023, and will be starring opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre to perform the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford's latest performance was Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on a National scandal that featured Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. She was also the lead in two seasons on CBS Comedy B Positive. Also, she was a part of the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured the legendary actresses Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. No stranger to Broadway Ashford has been awarded both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her character Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the original role of Lauren in Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway roles. Ashford is a native of Denver. She was born and raised in Denver and now lives living in Los Angeles and New York.
